TV debut on April 15th for new Pancho Barnes Film

After several award-winning and sold-out theatrical screenings, “The Legend of Pancho Barnes and the Happy Bottom Riding Club” makes its National Television Debut on Thursday night, April 15th at 8:00PM on southern California PBS station KOCE-TV. Considered to be one of the best fliers of the 20th Century, Pancho Barnes is an American Legend waiting to be discovered. A new award-winning* documentary film has been made about the life of Pancho Barnes, titled, “The Legend of Pancho Barnes and the Happy Bottom Riding Club.”

KOCE-TV PBS Television, Huntington Beach, will premiere The Legend of Pancho Barnes documentary on April 15th at 8 p.m., with additional screenings on April 20th at 9 p.m. and April 25th at 11 p.m. KOCE-TV, the nation’s sixth-most-watched public television station, is proud to have supported the creation of this dynamic documentary, about one of the most important women in 20th Century aviation.

This new documentary film tells the story of an aviatrix, a stunt pilot, a test pilot, a legend – a woman named Pancho Barnes – one of the most exciting aviation figures from the early days of flight. Made with the assistance of the KOCE-TV Foundation (PBS Television, Huntington Beach), The Legend of Pancho Barnes is directed by Amanda Pope. The main source of materials for this great film is the Pancho Barnes Archive, as unlimited access was granted to the filmmakers in their quest to tell Pancho’s story, by Pancho Barnes Enterprises (who manage the Pancho Barnes Archive & Estate of Pancho Barnes and owns all rights of publicity, copyrights and trademarks associated with Pancho Barnes). After the April 15th premiere on KOCE-TV, The Legend of Pancho Barnes and the Happy Bottom Riding Club will be made available for broadcast on all participating American Public Television stations. Over 100 stations across the United States have already committed to airing this documentary. Each station’s specific air date could be as early as April 16th (although more likely in late April) and/or most likely during the monthof May 2010.
